Dear my beloved future brides & grooms,

My name is Yen, I’m currently a Senior Wedding Planner at The F Lab. I’m so happy to be able to share my story with you today.

Around the end of 2018, like many of my peers, I completed my university studies and started to look for a path for myself. Always curious & sometimes a bit stubborn, I knew then that I wouldn’t be a good fit for the typical corporate environment doing numbers-driven work. So while friends around were gritting their teeth to break into big corporations, I decided to take a 6-month gap period to really reflect on myself, my interests, and what I seek for in terms of career development.

During this period, I had the chance to spend a lot of time with people, from family and friends to even strangers. I noticed that I felt energized by meeting & learning from others, and it was from that moment on that I seriously considered event planning, a career that back then I found quite novel & people-centric just as I loved.

For as long as I could remember, I always had a burning passion for people, for the arts, and for culture. But weddings could be something different entirely, I thought. I think every girl has at least once imagined themselves on their wedding day, walking down the aisle to become family with their significant other - myself included! The romance of it all was dazzling to me, but I… wasn’t yet ready to become a wife yet :) So I thought, “Why not use my powers to organize weddings for those who are ready to take that next step?”

Fate is a funny lady - because some people thought that my dream job sounded a little unrealistic, but I strongly believe that if you have enough conviction and want something enough, the universe will somehow work its magic to bring what is yours right to you. In 2019, by pure coincidence and a friend’s recommendation, I applied to The F Lab and became a wedding planner.

Five years have passed since: from a trainee, to a junior and now a senior planner, I’ve had the chance to work with quite a number of clients, each with their unique story. And yet, I never fail to be surprised and touched by the loving words and gestures that our couples dedicate to each other. Love is something so amazing and so special. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, famous or just a regular person, I believe that as long as you are kind and you have enough love between you two, there’s no reason you can’t have a wedding that is both fun & beautiful.

Like my all-time favorite character, Sex and The City’s Carrie Bradshaw, once said, “Some love stories aren’t epic novels. Some are short stories, but that doesn’t make them any less filled with love.” It’s a joy & an honor to be a part of our couples’ incredible journey, and I hope myself & The F Lab can help you celebrate your love in the future!
